COURSE DESCRIPTION In addition to the abstract(s) submitted with this application, the following speaker bios are provided:

Kevin R. Du Bois is a certified Professional Wetland Scientist, Professional Wetland Delineator, and Certified Floodplain Manager. Over his career, Mr. Du Bois has worked as a state Fisheries Biologist, Sensitive Land Acquisition Specialist, USFWS Endangered Species Biologist, wetland regulator, and environmental educator. Mr. Du Bois has worked for the Navy for 2+ years providing Installation and Regional level services as a NEPA, Natural Resources, and Cultural Resources Project Manager. Mr. Du Bois currently serves as the DoD Chesapeake Bay Program Coordinator. He has decades of experience in wetland restoration and is a recognized leader in the design and construction of living shorelines. He participates in a number of environmental NGOs including the Chesapeake Bay Foundation, Lafayette Wetlands Partnership, Lynnhaven River Now, and the Elizabeth River Project. Mr. Du Bois graduated Cum Laude from Southampton College in 1983 with a Bachelor’s degree in Marine Science and completed his Master’s degree in Marine Environmental Research in 1986 from the State University of New York at Stony Brook, School of Marine and Atmospheric Sciences. Mr. Du Bois is married with two adult daughters. He is a published writer and photographer and enjoys surfing, backpacking, and fly fishing.

Kevin Erwin is an internationally recognized, Ecological Society of America certified senior ecologist (1985), specializing in large-scale wetland restoration, biodiversity conservation, and watershed evaluation. His first wetland restoration project was in 1974 and since then he has evaluated, designed, managed, constructed and monitored hundreds of projects around the world. Since 1980 he has served as the President and Principal Ecologist of Kevin L. Erwin Consulting Ecologist, Inc. and is also a Courtesy Faculty Member of Florida Gulf Coast University in the Department of Marine & Ecological Sciences. He has served a variety of appointed positions, recently as a member of the Ramsar Scientific & Technical Review Panel, was a member of Wetland International’s Supervisory Council (2000-11). He has served as the Coordinator of Wetlands International’s Wetland Restoration Specialist Group since 1992 and in 2014 was elected to the Wetlands International Board of Members. In 2013 he was named as a Master of Ecological Restoration to the DeTao Masters Academy in The People’s Republic of China. Kevin Erwin has organized numerous international symposia on wetland restoration and climate change mitigation and adaptation, including the June 2012 and 2016 INTECOL meetings in Orlando, FL and Changshu, China on The Status of Wetland Restoration in China. Most recently, he was the plenary speaker at the International Symposium on Wetland Protected area Systems in Haikou, Hainan, in China last December 4-6, 2017.
